RAC Karri Valley Resort to Albany

Back down the road to Pemberton and then onwards to Walpole.  At Walpole we stop for a break and go into the Tourist Information office for no particular reason, but are very glad we did.  The staff in the office were extremely helpful and were able to sell us the tickets for the Tree Top Walk.  They also gave us directions to both the Tree Top Walk and the Giant Tingle Tree as well as suggestions for the route to Albany.

The Giant Tingle Tree is the first stop after Walpole.  This is, as the name suggests a giant red Tingle tree, hollowed out by fire.

Next stop is the Tree Top Walk.  Here we were able to buy a drink and something to eat from a coffee van in the car park before heading to the walk.  The Tree Top Walk itself doesn't take long (15 minutes or so) and although the highest point is 40m it doesn't feel at all unsafe.

After the high-level walk we go round the path at ground level that takes us round a different part of the forest. The majority of the trees are Karri with some Tingle trees.

We travel on, through Denmark, to Albany.  At least once I have been confused when people have said they live in Denmark but have strangely Australian accents!  Today is the day of the Melbourne Cup and the hotel, Hilton Garden Inn, is thronged with happy Australians when we arrive, crowding the bar...  Our room is on the 2nd floor overlooking the harbour.

We have diner in the hotel; I think other functions are taking the attention of the staff and service is slow.  We entertain ourselves reading some of the literature supplied by Leah and plan what we will do whilst staying in Albany.  Jo has oysters and I have a pasta dish (linguine?), from the not very inspiring menu.
